people at work love to write a Lot of docs but since nobody has solved the generalized information indexing problem it just ends up being lots of floating links sent around and i've just started emailing links to myself with a bunch of keywords in the body and tbh it's not bad

this is more for collaborative living docs eg design docs, proposals etc which are usually gdocs or dropbox paper for us (i think it's correct to not put stuff like this in confluence) both of which have just awful file discovery

One of the best parts I discovered upon joining the Search Company is they're actually decent at generalized indexing of docs and links, go figure. Makes dealing with work docs way better

This is why I love confluence docs, I can just go in and add like 5 tags and then magically I can find everything

This tho. I carefully keyword all my sent document emails for when I inevitably have to find and resend them to the person who “never received that” aka everyone. I’ve heard great things about the future of cloud storage and metadata tho...
