deep satisfaction in feeling nervous adrenaline energy build up and then immediately converting it into real physical motion most of us never really experience this again after leaving organized sports and i'm convinced it's part of why we're all so dead inside

"peaking" is a dumb concept life has more dimensions than that but idk i think physical stress reactions are best matched by physical responses, most people esp in "knowledge work" rarely experience this match, and high school sports did happen to be a good vehicle for it

the more general thesis is that i don't think it's possible to not be disconnected from your body in a world where you just go to the gym or do pilates or whatever and never put it through moments of actual critical high-stress physical performance
