i just don't get why everything always has to come down to the same thing! like everything in the thread — it's not bad that your parents called you smart, parent-child relationships do naturally change, have you considered literally any other causes

I thought that thread was gonna be wholesome with a message of like “but you can accept it and move on, you’re still smart, which means you can do well in other ways”. But then it really threw parents under the bus holy shit
