i just started using pocket as a tracker for things i *have* read and was thinking how odd it is that almost all apps like this are marketed for pre-read when they mostly work better post-read https://twitter.com/Austen/status/1257740857987325952 …

i used to pre-read save to instapaper when i lived in like new york or paris where i'd be on the subway for an hour with no internet every day and consistently work through a couple articles that way. but this is a forcing function the app doesn't encourage anything on its own

Check out Readwise. Collects your highlights from Kindle/Pocket/Instapaper and has a great resurfacing system for daily review of notes. Also has an OCR feature that lets you take digital highlights from physical books so all your notes are in the same place!

see but this assumes you've made notes — i'm talking surfacing of stuff you mean to read but haven't yet and are at risk of forgetting about

if you set it up the right way, notion is really good at this!

imo notion (and someone mentioned evernote) is too heavy duty for this, personally i don't wanna deal with an all purpose notes app to just save stuff but it might fit some ppl's flow! i used to use notion for link saving but tbh it was too slow and offline didn't work

The save widgets are kinda clunky. I feel like if it had a big fat "archive immediately" button right when you save, all the already-read stuff would filter to the background and the app would work as intended.
