tech guys with 50 followers love to post "looking for recommendations/suggestions" for stuff and then get 0 favs 0 retweets 0 replies it's really brutal to see

While I feel this, 50 people is a lot of people. I used to thank everyone that liked my tweets back when I was sub 100. Twitter is for sure different now.
i think maybe 50 was more meaningful 5 or 10 years ago when i started tweeting in 2018 within like a day i got 30 followers out of nowhere and most of them were bots

this has not been my experience. I feel like i mostly get new followers from replying to people enough that they want to keep me around (or leeching their followers who found me funny). The few bot follows (maybe like 10~20%) go away after a week or so.
