i respect the french for eschewing the concept of “illustration design” entirely and printing all their classics in those plain cream gallimard covers

i fucking love it so much. they do the same thing with wine labels. tremendously powerful
i love them absolutely no patience for “advertising” or “appeal”. just shut the fuck up this is our literature of course you’re gonna read it

however i just noticed this it is extremely fucked up that they print spines such that if the book is face up the spine text is upside down. what’s up with that
