sr eng who tells you you're wrong and explains why w/context & details & generosity: amazing, godlike, would die for u sr eng who even when agreeing with you has to rephrase the stuff you're saying in a way they like better: annoying, petty, who the fuck is this guy anyways
in my experience, senior engineers do this to juniors in non-eng roles as well 
wait that didn't make sense lol. they do this for non-eng things like UX decisions and product decisions... getting the last word, rephrasing when they agree, etc.

That’s because they were promoted on the basis of being a good engineer, which is a different skillset than leading other engineers.
when you have to manipulate a dsicussion to make the senior eng think they came up with your idea - so that it gets their approval...
