I just watched a scene that made me wonder why Lily is pretending to be more depressed than she really is, and then I realized what I was actually watching was an actor not knowing how to play depressed
the writing isn't doing her any favors either i just rewatched her conversation with jamie from the first episode and it was real tough. seems very on garland for making her a tv lead when her previous biggest roles were a silent robot and 5 speaking lines in crazy rich asians

absolutely, I blame Garland for all of this. Dude has been a pro screenwriter for 20 years and his dialogue is still somehow at the level of a bright high school kid's first script

On rewatching Annihilation I was surprised that the dialogue was mostly not good. I didn't notice it the first time because it looks so fucking cool
