This was an absolutely terrible call made while the career Superintendent repeatedly told the Board that UC had already told Palo Alto district it would not accept As only. They ignored him.
it’s a complicated problem and i have less of an opinion on the actual decision made by the district, which i don’t entirely agree with, than on the choice made by a supposed leader in education to dunk on “lol so sf” instead of actually discussing the issue at hand
also if i cared about education, and maybe if i were austen and spent 80% of my time criticizing higher education, it’s an interesting chance to open up a discussion about the validity of the (often arbitrary) rules imposed by universities instead of say, taking them for granted
