it's not just like a "i'm tired and lazy" thing. it's also do i wanna raise complaints with individuals who might then interfere with my work? do i wanna go on the record with hr systems who don't give a shit? get back to me when you have to make those tradeoffs

You want moral progress without risk. I don't think that's ever possible, and the expectation only breeds resentment. I agree fervently with your aims and goals though. I personally would stand to gain from greater inclusivity and diversity and have suffered bitterly its absence
