there are lots of bad things abt the diversity in tech movement's stagnation in corporate shallowness but the absolute worst thing has to be the enormous masses of fake woke guys crawling out the woodwork ready to proclaim themselves Allies at any turn while actually sucking ass
the most insidious version is the guys who under the guise of "just wanting to learn more" won't stop asking ppl with obvious grievances like "there exists racism in the united states against people who look like me" to explain themselves like oh my god lol shut the fuck up
also enjoy when someone brings up "why don't we hire more people from different backgrounds" and then you open the 40 message slack thread and it's just 8 white guys with cs degrees from cmu pondering this question at great length with absolutely no sense of irony
the latest one to me was "if you can just put your feminist hat aside for a while, I would really like to ask you a question" the question - why should there be paid maternity leave
there seems to be some expectation of being "stoic" and "calmly" answering questions without exhibiting any "disgust/disdain" lest the boys feel alienated from the "discourse" because the galz are getting too "emotional"
