the most annoying thing about tech-adjacent Education Discourse is that it's always centered around "boo hoo my genius child" and then followed by stats about shitty public schools but zero consideration for how the schools got that way or like, the kids who really depend on it

what i also don't understand is how this line of discourse ignores the fact that most students are not enjoying or getting ~optimal results~ from online learning?? across the board from middle schoolers to college students i don't know a single student who is thriving

proponents say it gives smart kids more flexibility to learn on their own and that in some ways it improves access to education but there are a lot of assumptions & holes that go kinda unaddressed. online has a place in the Ideal System but ppl haven't figured it out yet i think
