something really gets me abt the image of ppl waking up every day desperately dragging themselves to the kitchen to caffeinate only to sit around the house not moving or going anywhere
the world’s collective caffeine dependency is generally wild to me but i think the american cultural take on it as a high energy fuel thing (“don’t talk to me before i’ve had my coffee” etc) is especially funny to me in these times
I think Americans are brilliant at marketing their products. Coffee 
is always linked with work, high energy, high performance, etc.
Also, Americans need lot of energy to stay positive at this time. Hence coffee

As someone who naturally has a 26-hour sleep cycle that effectively ends up with "Not waking up until 10:00, chugging 600mg of pills to be functional, and then walking 10 miles a day just to slam myself into bed", the lack of exercise is making my caffeine dependency even worse.
I recommend audiobook: M.Pollan-Caffeine. It explains a lot.If U find it interesting & want to understand what is going on in the world (incl. "tech") - listen- "How to change your mind". I suspect that "tech bros" & various pseudoscientists & wacos misused another drugs as well.
