I think it’s kind of nuanced. I don’t think the take that all tech companies are evil is right. I don’t think the take that they’re saving the world is right. The reality is a zigzagging line along the middle. Headlines are more likely to get clicks if they exaggerate.
oh i totally agree i’m not a “tech is evil” person by any means. the nyt’s tech coverage sometimes frustrates me esp when it comes to the finer details but i don’t think this headline is exaggerated, tech ppl just need to accept that they work in an industry w lots of power
