the nation needs a blanket ban on coronavirus opinions by tech guys

weren’t you at one point making fun of people that were concerned about the spread to the US?
-
my point here isn’t about whether tech ppl are/were right to be concerned it’s about random fuckin tech guys posting long threads of speculation & articles without substantiated evidence

Hardly anyone on twitter is an expert on epidemiology though. I doubt tech guys will be shutting up any time soon given that their early panicking was essentially vindicated.
-
like you’re correct but i think it’s fucking dumb & so arrogant to not know when to accept you were right and step back and let the actual experts speak

But many of the people that were apparently qualified were spreading dangerous misinformation. At least rationalist/tech/frog twitter could spot the severity of the risk. https://twitter.com/purplebaptist/status/1241448552393572353?s=21 …https://twitter.com/PurpleBaptist/status/1241448552393572353 …

It seems obvious in retrospect, but few outside of tech circles were attuned to the risk at the time. The "speculative horseshit" isn't worse than the so-called experts who said we didn't need face masks, but yes the real problem is curious tech bros.

By "a few outside of tech circles", did you mean thousands of scientists/doctors/nurses, and the hundreds of thousands of people who have opened up a history book?
