there is a weird nonchalance among ppl under 45 where everyone's like "lol we're not gonna die" and totally ignoring the bit where tons of pretty young ppl survived but still had to be hospitalized and sometimes intubated lol the whistleblower doctor in china who died was like 32

or the fact that the hospitals are going to be completely overrun 3-4 weeks from now, and stuff like intubation might not be available

yeah i think the dissonance to me has been well-informed well-meaning people taking the overall societal impacts totally seriously but when asked about themselves they're like "well i'm 25 so i'm fine"

If two million old people get sick, the country's healthcare system will basically cease to function, and then every serious illness and injury becomes potentially life-threatening. For everyone. There is no possible scenario where just boomers die. That's not how it works, kids

and if god forbid they need medical care for any other sort of minor emergency, good luck getting it when all resources are directed to caring for covid patients. the naivete is maddening.

yeah most of the young deaths have been doctors working like 20 hours a day but they definitely died of covid. anyways if any other country has a bunch of overworked undercared-for ppl in their 30s and 40s it's us
