we’d be further along as a species if none of us had any understanding of probability at all and just all lived in a haze of “some things happen sometimes” instead of this bullshit where some people figured out how to put numbers to it

I think you’re right- the determination that a decision is rational is made completely unilaterally and some degree of emotion likely affects it too
