yeah he worked hard as shit but if it'd cost him $20k to go to college in china the way it costs $20k here there's literally no way he would've ever been able to go. some structural barriers are high enough that no amount of hard work is gonna overcome them

Yes agreed. But the structural barriers you speak of aren't unclimbable in the US. Plenty of opportunity. Lots of snowflakes, babies, and already successful virtuesignalers that loudly clamor of inequality without putting in the work

A bunch of colleges have merit based scholarships and college isn't the only path of success. People with 50k of college debt after choosing a shitty major in a shitty private college with a shitty gpa should reevaluate and not only complain of structural barriers
