in college i would put off all my papers at the outline stage until literally the last day and then pound out the whole thing in like 12 hours

the downside of this was there was usually a marked drop in quality & coherence by the last couple paragraphs as my brain started to melt around 6-7am but that’s why you outline things first i suppose

I always write the core first and then write the intro

This is what I do. Start writing from the center. Or I fall back to the high school method of writing down the thesis followed by the first sentence of every paragraph.
