Yang was a nobody a year ago, so I don’t really buy that an already-respected tech figure couldn’t have done the same thing at anytime in the last decade if they really wanted to.
turns out running for president and building a campaign off gimmicks is a great way to make people listen to you even if your ideas aren't good

You make fun of it but the option to run a campaign, US election or otherwise, has always been on the table. An Asian dude with relatively little money (your annual income is probably higher than his) and a tiny team did it, what’s the excuse of the other, smarter people?
