there’s some distinction between “they go” vs “they’re like” when referring to someone saying something but i can’t pin down what it is

they go implies the end of the story or a punchline you know
oh i like this too “they go” def has more emphasis on the actual shape of the thing being said like in a punchline vs the semantic content
