my (and a lot of others’) baseline was fully “lambda is good” until bad stories started emerging, and what put me off was the attitude lambda’s leadership took in response to these stories. it reflects a distinct arrogance that i’ve always disliked and looks esp bad in education
one of the things i believe most strongly is educators are in a position of immense responsibility, and it’s up to them to own that when students are dissatisfied with outcomes. lambda leadership hasn’t shown that to external viewers, which also reflects on their business sense
i think you’re pretty much right in your analysis of the state of education in general, i hope things are working out for you and that you feel like you have the resources you need there. if you believe in lambda i can see why you would! but i don’t
That’s the baby with the bathwater fallacy though. Like if you judged every educational institution SOLELY on the parting shots between dissatisfied students and the university administrators... I’d have a hard time seeing even our “most revered” institutions hold up
