By SF you mean... tech? There’s a lot of other folks in this city and many of us have plenty of moments of weird creative outbursts and more than enough toxic codependency.
no and i try not to use “sf” as a proxy for “tech” bc i hate when others do that. in this case i think it’s a mix of tech and also being from the bay area there’s a certain culture of achievement that’s related to the large immigrant communities here and that seeps into sf too

Yeah, I hear that. It’s more that way now than 10-15 years ago — SF used to feel a lot farther from PA/MV. Is the solution undoing the emotional repression, or channeling it into more uncontrolled, unpredictable and interesting outlets? I’m selfishly hoping for the latter.
