idk what the right business model is for software but my only take is that nearly every subscription plan for a pure software product is gonna feel like a scam until we fix the industry's culture of constant code pushing with zero engineering rigor
subscriptions like spotify etc make sense bc i'm paying for access to goods or services but subscriptions for an app that ties together a bunch of shit i already have for free means i'm paying purely for good code and at this point i don't trust anyone out here to write good code
This sounds like more of an issue with the app just not providing value vs. the pricing model. Subscriptions are less about paying for updates and more about $5/month for a year is a lot more than $20 one time.
