subscriptions like spotify etc make sense bc i'm paying for access to goods or services but subscriptions for an app that ties together a bunch of shit i already have for free means i'm paying purely for good code and at this point i don't trust anyone out here to write good code

I was frustrated the other day when I got told "We are agile, so fail fast and fail often is what we should always do" for an enterprise grade product in production. My disagreement and queries allot suitability and availability fell on deaf ears.

Not necessarily... Can get tied in by familiarity, and on-going app development may not bring any personally worthwhile new features (whilst adding bloat).

Yuppp, eg Adobe failed pretty spectacularly with a major Photoshop upgrade some months ago. Super unstable to the point of being unusable.
