you can have it with a shitty & slow train system though, which the us absolutely has, and china did that for decades the solution is just everyone gets to go home once a year

You can have immense public transit without massive migratory worker populations but you cannot have massive migratory worker populations without good transit. But the fact that china took the second route is a stupid reason to think that we shouldn't do it in the US
