Had a friend who constantly had “boring dreams” anytime he drank. Literally working (as yours) or folding laundry for hours in real time in his dreams. It seemed to go away after he dealt with some anxiety in his life.

If I begin dreaming about work, I immediately stop the dream and wake up screaming NO

Used to get those regularly as a teenager. Would dream entire days filled with mundane activity from wake up to bed time. Would wake up the next day thinking it would be the day after the dream and get confused when the things I had dreamed hadn't happened. Annoying as fuck.
