there are very few neighborhoods that *require* you to go over hills. there are almost always pretty simple alternate routes that add little time

really? I guess it depends on the definition of a “steep hill”, but there are a lot of large pretty flat corridors that take you between sections of the city that make commuting not difficult

sorry should also clarify- for trips under 1.5-2mi with an assumed focal point of a “downtown” start or end destination. if you live at twin peaks or the top of Russian hill or a similarly large, sustained steep climb, this obviously doesn’t apply.

right there are flat corridors between many neighborhoods but MOST of my origins/destinations are on a hill so there’s kinda no way to route around that

idk most hills are perfectly walkable (some exceptions like twin peaks etc) and i think more ppl in sf should just suck it up and walk them! also the bus exists
