harassment is good unless it’s bad, making fun of people’s lives is funny unless it’s actually mocking depression, it’s lame to not celebrate my sex parties but it’s tacky to share yours, taking fake accounts seriously is idiotic until we do it too

it’s good when joe rogan endorses bernie bc he brings in ppl not in the base, it’s bad when [anyone in the center] endorses [anyone else] bc it’s evidence of ideological impurity

Righteousness poisons discourse by definition. When too much of a movement is based on owning the “right” side of morality, it becomes divorced from reality. In that sense left twitter isn’t too different from conservative evangelicals.
-
Also there's a confounding of ethics and morals in this statement. In any case the equivalence made between leftists + conservative evangelicals is v unsettling. Let's not forget one calls for raising minimum wage and the other got upset over the word damn in a burger commercial

humans are nothing if not inconsistent, and i’d gander the supposed righteousness usually makes it worse

In 1932 the Pulitzer Prize for journalism went to a man who denied that there was a famine in Ukraine, because he was so convinced of the righteousness of the Soviet Union. Twitter isn’t the problem, it’s that bunker mindset.

Walter Duranty won the 1932 Pulitzer Prize for works authored and published in 1931, before the Holodomor of 1932-1933. It should be obvious that he could not have won the prize in 1932 for his denial pieces written in 1933.
