i think some cultures explicitly teach saying someone's name in conversation is a way to get them to warm up to you and let you be closer to them, but yeah def has the opposite effect on some ppl (in my case mostly because ppl suck at pronouncing my name, i'd rather be "you")

yeah i’ve been trying to figure out for a long time the exact shape of when it feels normal for me to use names and when not, like intros/calling to people/some casual friend usage is all fine but sometimes names feel v intimate
