a thing that perpetually fascinates me is a certain brand/marketing company in sf gives out free lunch but bc they have a limited (Non Tech) budget the lunch is literally just a salad but all their employees are skinny brand girls so they adore it. everyone wins

sweet potatoes used to be the food for the poor (at least in taiwan) and are still cheap 30 yrs later, esp wholesale. like $1 for 4-6 pretty amazing that sweet potatoes can now be sold as an "upscale" foodpic.twitter.com/IHejV4SYlj

the rebranding of extremely normal low-cost often "ethnic"/"poverty" foods as "upscale" for upper middle class white ppl is my favorite phenomenon. up until i start having to pay for it too
