vc funded software engineers should have a pro bono requirement 50 hours a year of fixing bad insurance websites or upgrading ur city's databases or teaching grandmas how to use email without getting phished

because vc money drives the overinflation of software salaries at the top + doesn't really go towards any kind of public or civic good. also an approximation for engineers who work at "tech companies" vs. engineers who just work at "companies"

My knowledge is limited, but it feels like FAANG engineers/late stage startup engineers get significantly more comp than the average startup employee

i’m counting those as vc funded. you all forget that vc is not a normal way of starting a business outside of tech. also your average startup eng is still making waaay more than a dev at like a city bureau is making we need to stop pretending startup engineers are poor lmao
