Why just VC funded?
-
because vc money drives the overinflation of software salaries at the top + doesn't really go towards any kind of public or civic good. also an approximation for engineers who work at "tech companies" vs. engineers who just work at "companies"

First two are impossible - rigid organizations literally block any iota of improvement with processes. So I guess hi grandma, can I eat some of that pie after we do emails?
-
ok sorry but this is a trash mindset if the organization’s process is so rigid why don’t you go in and do something to fix it. this is the thing where the moment tech ppl are faced with actual hard problems they just run the fuck away lmao

Or if, like there was a union that could organize this and, idk, maybe train new dev's and improve their local communities all at the same time.
-
i think long term as software becomes a more widespread/less differentiated job this is correct, the problem is right now the supply of ppl with the training to engineer large scale overhauls of old systems is actually fairly low and the systems need to be fixed sooner

I actually kinda agree with this in a way after a certain number of years in industry (so you are experienced) it would cool to have a “civic sabbatical” of 1-2 years where your job is protected but you get to work for the local/state/federal gov’t or a registered non-profit
-
gov’t pays a few meager bucks to subsidize maybe, whatever at age 18 you go in to the military in some countries but for tech at 18 you’re not very useful skill-wise or experience-wise so it would be more for older people/people in their 30s
