so far the only people who are actually pissed abt the reply limit option are dudes who think everyone should give a shit abt their opinion

personally i think this is risky but could be good as long as you correctly restrict govt/political entities but that's gonna require twitter figuring out what political means which they............do not wanna do lmao

also as long as you can't restrict quote tweeting. a lot of people don't understand the difference between replies/qts but a key thing re: trolling/harassment is that replies get u the visibility of the OP whereas if ur a shit nobody, nobody notices or cares if u qt

Quote tweeting is essentially attaching the quoted tweet url at the end of a tweet, which is rendered as a tweet preview Under the current way of how it works, it's gonna be difficult to block qt. They could take away the qt button tho, but I don't see how that's gonna be help

yeah there's no way qts can be stopped which i think is correct. ppl absolutely deserve to be dunked on lmao but the direct nature of replies + the fact that replies aren't default shown on the replier's feed makes it much more of a harassment vector

I like the idea, but i wonder how likely this kind of thing would be too:https://twitter.com/wxdam/status/1214974567820746752 …

It's got 3,000 RTs and climbing. yeah agree i think i'd hesitate if i were twitter to roll out replies before they get a handle on disinformation. on the other hand i will say i think most ppl retweeting disinfo also don't read the replies, and a quote tweet often goes around disputing false tweets that get big

but also usually the clarifying qt is based on a more immediate reply and that's for the same visibility reasons i mentioned somewhere else re: harassment so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm optimistic about this feature - I think it'll work really well as long as you can adjust it like
