i haven’t taken any basic science classes in years and years and this year i would like to patch the rapidly widening holes in my knowledge does anyone have good college physics/chem/bio textbooks to recommend

If it's just mcat level, just take AP review books like Barrons. The amount of exercises and solutions in them are way better for actual check that you learned things than just reading bland prose.
personal preference maybe but i disagree with this p strongly lol i find that test prep type practice when you don't actually fully know the baseline systems ends up training you to just memorize shit and actual learning should never feel like memorization

Interesting. I much prefer practice questions for exactly your reasons. It promotes understanding rather than just memorizing prose. Because it highlights where you need to review by reading prose.

I think a lot of people also overstimate their reading abilities (average SAT reading score is 500) and just think reading Campbell 3 times (I did this) is sufficient when it's just a running out the clock for high school.
