not against memeing as a processing tool in general but the specific use of “wwiii” bothers me bc it implies a kinda self-absorbed fear of total societal impact that we probably aren’t going to experience but a lot of people in the middle east are
totally uninformed speculation warning but i think the only things likely to cause a societal paradigm shift on the scale of a “world war” type thing are a major cyberattack that takes down huge critical systems in the us (plausible) or like nuclear shit (probably not)

The whole “world war” framework is kind of unwieldy for the modern era, anyway. In many ways, WWI was less destructive than the War on Terror, and arguably climate change is on a bigger scale than any human centric conflict. Not disagreeing with you, to be clear...

In defense of us olds—I just turned 30, and while I’m not making wwiii jokes, I can get why someone would just meme their way through. We’ve literally lived through these lies and this gaslighting before, it can feel so hopeless and nihilistic to see it happen again
