so i work on similar problems where for regulatory/legal reasons we have to use low precision high recall methods like denylists of words and we use these to raise human reviews but never to action!! for exactly the reason that it's a shitty user experience if you get it wrong

yeah probably or they just didn't think of it. there's a delicate balance between human effort vs machine accuracy and esp in the cases like content moderation where human exposure is actually damaging but deciding to scale via just regexing it is just silly lol
