All my life this was an extreme do not use word. Then my ex started playing xbox live games with people from Scotland and England. Its safe to say in 2 years of that I heard the word 1000x more than I did in the 40+ years leading up to then.

I guess it’s accent-based in the UK. Try hearing it pronounced in crisp Queen’s RP at an unexpected moment, or growled by an angry Scotsman. It’s still shocking enough here — and I agree, we should always have the c-bomb left to reach for
