There's one that operates out of a shipping container near me. It's just a guy, a freezer, and an iPad, who I'm keeping in business one $10 Ben & Jerry's at a time.

A deli here does that over all their delivery services. Brilliant and evil.

Not really a big surprise people are willing to pay for convenience. You could say the same thing about taxis vs. buses, takeaways vs. cooking etc.

restaurants had it before uber eats, except they were in the refrigerator behind the cashier and you'd never buy them unless you're, say, traveling and have no water. Now they're elevated to a menu item.

I've seen one or two run out of gas stations and containers. I think most are Uber run though? Smart idea, esp. for people looking for junk food w/ little effort

Probably their early steps towards more grocery store-type deliveries. Hopefully with more stores coming online the markup will be less crazy
