      if you follow me & i don’t follow you then by definition there is huge information asymmetry and if you approach me irl, you’ve had the time & knowledge to decide to interact whereas i get neither. this is fucking uncomfortable and unlike “public figures” it is not part of my job

      there's a rare 3rd pattern where someone you don't already follow dms you on twitter and turns out they're cool and you end up hanging out. like 0.1% of people are able to pull this off and none of them are software engineers
