Python: simple is better than complex Scala: let's give developers a limited implementation of Prolog at compile-time and see how it goes

I've always read the zen of python as somewhat ironic. Item #2 proclaims that "Explicit is better than implicit" in a language that keeps the types implicit.

Use mypy. Problem solved

I still don't understand how Python is explicit with no strong typing and invisible characters (indentation) for code blocks. Can someone enlighten me?

Yeah, I'm a Python fanboy but I've always found that one weird as well. Python is not exactly very verbose or explicit imo. Since 3.6 it has the syntax for static typing, but it doesn't actually check anything (you have to do that in your IDE or use something like mypy).

This reminds me of descriptors in Python: "For objects, the machinery is in object.__getattribute__() which transforms b.x into type(b).__dict__['x'].__get__(b, type(b))." I'd say this neither explicit nor simple.
