Been around longer than computers tbh. Copyright on all forms of content has been just regulators and creators in bed. When we figure out how to value Mickey Mouse is when we figure out how to value data.
the defining data issue is much bigger than copyright/IP. it’s online ad value and media models, it’s phone searches at the border, it’s speech law, it’s irl surveillance, it’s literally everything that deals with information of any kind and not just “content” that ppl create
