french food is mostly overrated at the non fine dining level but the buckwheat galette/sweet crepe/cider combo is a culinary masterwork

friend has a theory that french food’s reputation stems almost entirely from its cultural prestige among the british, who obviously didn’t have any better food of their own and then hyped up french food across the entire empire

I think you're partially right, buuut in general there's such a long standing tradition of food appreciation and eating in general there, which many countries are only catching up to now. Half my fam is french so I'm obviously biased, but there are so many good products. Oui oui.

FYI galettes are by definition made with buckwheat and crêpes are by definition sweet so you don’t need to specify it. I whole heartedly disagree with your comment about being over rated and bland btw :)
