That's pretty disappointing.. how do you respond?
I usually try to hide my offense, rather instinctively. I guess I understand it's the mindset of a people, and I can't blame individuals. But should I show at least a bit of discontent? Just hint at it?

I do enjoy being called an old foreigner 老外 four times a day in China too. This is just second to being asked whether I can eat with chopsticks after ordering 酸菜鱼 and 一杯温水 in accent free Shanghainese.
