one of my faaaavourite classes this term is a readings course i'm taking with a professor I worked with - we plan out 1-2 papers to read per week - meet weekly - and discuss! my focus is on streaming video applications

useful tangents we frequently go on - what makes a systems paper good? - how can you *evaluate* the evaluation of a system? - the relationship between academia/the industry - how can you effectively simulate eg, varying bandwidth?

today's meeting was about twitch the prof and i spent a fair bit of time lamenting our lack of understanding of gaming culture and marvelling over how long twitch sessions were (in 2014, 30+% of them were over 4 hours long?!)
