There was a whole major that had an ethics focus - science, technology and society (STS) and I am pretty sure there was an intro class required for CS majors. I don’t think it was enough by any means but this doesn’t feel like some significant reaction to the current situation
this is a new version of cs181, which is usually a standard tech ethics class most cs majors take. nice that rob reich is involved here + strong speaker lineup so there’s clearly an effort but tbh this version is probably a one-off, hard to make flashy speaker classes sustainable
