76 percent of all inmates end up back in prison in 5 years. Food for thought.

Indeed. A big failure of society to not give them the support they need both during their time in jail and after, instead making it harder for them at every step.

It's a two way street. We can only burn so much $ on hardened criminals. OTOH, if a guy truly turns his life around in prison and wants to work and follow the rules, there should be (and is!) support for him.

Turns out in addition to being more ethical, it's also financially better on average to get people back into society than condemning them to a life getting in and out in person.
