Are clean URLs still a thing if Browsers continue to hiding the URL bar?

Nobody looks beyond the domain part, some browsers only show that part by default. So, my question still is: Are clean URLs important?

I regularly inspect the full URL. If the browser hides it, I will _make_ the browser show it to me.

I care that it be meaningful. I don't care so much about absolute length, but short is nice.
