    My father, an Auschwitz survivor, came to the US w/ nothing. My mother spent much of her childhood in an orphanage. They started businesses that paid the bills, fed their kids & put others to work. I'd call that "pulling themselves up by their bootstraps," . Wouldn't you?

    Just a casual reminder that 60% of all wealth in America is inherited. “Pull yourself up by the bootstraps” is a sham.

    I hear for a brief second a standards committee member reached enlightenment and held the entirety of C++ in his mind for a second. Upon being reminded of his humanity, this forbidden knowledge was forever lost. Us programmers live in remembrance and aspiration of it.

    There are an enormous number of young US women in their mid 20s to mid 30s who don’t appear to be prioritizing motherhood. Many of their parents have assets while many of them do not. No massive transfer is seen. I find the lack of major discussion on this biologically puzzling.

    This seems like a bit of a WTF to me. Because I have two-factor enabled, an attempt to log into my account from a random machine disables my account until I can re-enter the two factor code -- even on devices where I've specifically chosen not to require the code?
