"The Eltingville...Club" by Evan Dorkin is like Pussey in that it satirizes 90s comics, but from the fandom side.pic.twitter.com/E4kj8tE39p

oh wow I take back anything I said about dorkin's work. I remember reading milk and cheese back before I knew what he was referencing but
the pilot had no girls in it and I suspect this is why
he did hit the nail on the head. What a shame it wasn't in the pilot bc it feels like a shot in the foot to leave it out
if the goal was to mock comic fandoms
That previous strip, BTW, is from a more recent Eltingville comic, where they've all grown up... and 3/4ths of them have learned NOTHING.
Although I gotta say, I REALLY enjoyed what wound up happening to Josh, arguably the worst of the four... he turned pro comic writer.pic.twitter.com/leUZ6gbuP6
dang @kcgreenn did this inspire you to make Anime Club in any way???
I remember that pilot. Even defanged it was a huge pin into the hot air balloon of nerd culture.
Also I didnt get to read this one but fuuuuuuck he aged horribly
My god. It reminds of kc green's anime club series (probably for good reason). That strip with Bill Dickey hurt to read.
